Glocal Hospital in Begusarai was awarded by Bihar Government for exemplary performance under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) on 29th September. Glocal hospital was ranked 3rd in the entire state, being the only hospital from a small city like Begusarai. The hospital head, Kanhaiya Kumar was handed over the award in a gala function in Patna by Mr. Pratyay Amrit, Additional Chief Secretary – Health. A week earlier the Civil Surgeon of Begusarai had given the hospital the first prize in the district for performance under Ayushman Bharat. AB PM-JAY, the flagship scheme of Government of India, is the largest health assurance scheme in the world which aims at providing a health insurance of Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year for hospitalization to over 12 crore poor and vulnerable families.

Glocal hospital began in 2015 and in the last 8 years has been setting up new benchmarks in access to high end affordable healthcare in Begusarai. The hospital is a 100-bed state of the art Superspeciality hospital, offering a wide range of medical services, including Critical Care, General Medicine, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Gynecology, Neuro-medicine, Neurosurgery, Cardiology, Urology, Nephrology including Dialysis, Dental and Orthopedics. It has a team of 23 doctors, which includes several specialists and super specialists in Cardiology, Neurology and Gastroenterology. The hospital is at the forefront of providing affordable advanced healthcare not only to the people of Begusarai but to the adjoining districts of Khagaria, Samastipur, Munger, Lakhisarai and even Patna.

Kanhaiya Kumar, the Hospital Head said “The kind of healthcare we offer is not available anywhere in Begusarai and all at low and fully transparent cost. We have become experts in managing critical patients. Our ICU is always full. If a patient is critical, at least 8 out of 10 people will recommend sending the patient directly to Glocal hospital. Our hospital is committed to providing top tier healthcare, saving limbs, lives, and unnecessary expenses.”

Importantly, Glocal Hospital offers its services at less than half of the cost of hospitals in larger cities and metropolitan areas. Patients covered under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY are provided free treatment making advanced healthcare truly inclusive. Begusarai is an industrial city with several PSUs like Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, Oil India, Railways, NTPC, Fertilizer etc., who all depend on Glocal hospital for the healthcare of their employees.

Glocal Healthcare Systems, founded by Dr. Sabahat S. Azim, a medical doctor and ex-IAS officer, in 2010, operates 11 similar hospitals in smaller cities of Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha and UP, fulfilling the acute healthcare needs of underserved communities. Dr. Azim’s vision was to reimagine healthcare delivery by building cost-effective hospitals in a fraction of the industry-standard cost and time. These hospitals are equipped to deliver high-end multispecialty and acute care, with a focus on evidence-based protocols encoded in an AI-enabled Clinical Decision Support System. Glocal’s ICUs boast an impressive survival rate of nearly 90%, surpassing benchmarks set in the United States, and a third-party survey recorded patient satisfaction at an impressive 96%.

Glocal Hospital and Glocal Healthcare Systems are committed to their mission of bringing world-class healthcare to smaller towns and villages across India. The focus on Ayushman Bharat is to ensure that advanced medical care is no longer a distant dream for the poor residing in underserved regions.
