Govt of India recognition for Med Tech Zone, Vizag as Biomedical Skill Awarding body

The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), GOI and Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) signed an agreement on June 15, 2026, granting AMTZ recognition as an Awarding Body (AB–Dual Category) under the NCVET framework. The recognition marks a significant milestone for AMTZ and strengthens its role in developing a skilled workforce for India’s rapidly growing medical device manufacturing sector.

 

 

Through this recognition, AMTZ is authorized to assess, certify, and award qualifications to learners trained through campuses and training centres owned or fully managed by the organization. The recognition enables AMTZ to deliver industrydriven skill development programmes while ensuring alignment with nationally recognized standards under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF). Representing the AMTZ ecosystem at the signing ceremony were Mr. Dilip Kumar Chekuri, CEO, AIC AMTZ MediValley, and Mr. Naresh Nitturi, National Coordinator, Indian Biomedical Skill Consortium.

 

 

The agreement was signed in the presence of Smt. Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Chairperson, NCVET, who presided over the ceremony. The event was also attended by Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Gaba, Executive Member, NCVET, and Lt. Col. Vikram Singh Bhati, Director  Recognition, NCVET. As part of the recognition process, NCVET has approved the skill programme “Production Associate  Manufacturing (Medical Device)” at NSQF Level 4.5, developed by AMTZ to address the evolving workforce requirements of the medical device manufacturing industry.

 

 

The course is designed to equip learners with practical, industry relevant skills aligned with modern manufacturing practices, quality standards, and regulatory expectations. This recognition empowers AMTZ to develop, implement, assess, and certify industry focused programmes, enabling the creation of workforce ready training pathways tailored to the needs of the medical device sector.
