Medanta has unveiled an ambitious ₹4,500 crore expansion strategy aimed at strengthening its national healthcare footprint through the development of new multi-speciality hospitals in Delhi, Mumbai, Guwahati, and Varanasi.

The healthcare major, founded by renowned cardiac surgeon Dr. Naresh Trehan, currently operates advanced multi-speciality hospitals across six Indian cities, including Gurugram, Ranchi, Indore, Patna, Lucknow, and its recently launched facility in Noida.

According to company officials, the expansion is focused on increasing tertiary and quaternary healthcare capacity in high-demand urban and emerging healthcare markets. The upcoming projects are expected to include advanced critical care units, oncology centres, robotic surgery facilities, organ transplant programmes, and digital healthcare infrastructure.

India’s healthcare sector is witnessing rapid growth due to rising chronic disease burden, increasing health insurance penetration, growing middle-class healthcare demand, and expansion of private hospital infrastructure. Industry estimates project India’s healthcare market to surpass USD 610 billion by 2026, while the hospital sector alone is expected to grow at a CAGR of nearly 16–18%.

Medanta currently operates more than 2,500 operational beds across its network and has emerged as one of India’s leading tertiary healthcare providers in specialties such as cardiology, oncology, neurosciences, liver transplantation, and critical care medicine.

Healthcare experts believe the planned expansion could significantly improve access to advanced healthcare services in northern, western, and northeastern India, particularly as demand for specialized treatment continues to rise across metro and Tier-2 cities.

The expansion strategy also reflects the increasing investment momentum in India’s private healthcare sector, where hospital groups are aggressively scaling infrastructure, technology integration, and specialty care services to meet rising patient demand and medical tourism opportunities.

The latest development further strengthens Medanta’s position among India’s fastest growing hospital networks while supporting the country’s broader healthcare infrastructure expansion goals.
