Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda has launched Aarogya Setu 2.0, transforming the platform from a pandemic-era contact tracing application into a comprehensive personal health record (PHR) platform integrated with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission
Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda has launched Aarogya Setu 2.0, transforming the platform from a pandemic-era contact tracing application into a comprehensive personal health record (PHR) platform integrated with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). The upgraded application is designed to serve as a unified digital gateway for citizens to access a wide range of healthcare services and manage their health information securely.
The revamped Aarogya Setu 2.0 enables users to create and manage their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), access and store digital health records, and utilize the “Scan & Share” feature for seamless registration at hospitals. The platform also allows users to maintain a longitudinal health record, facilitating continuity of care and reducing paperwork during healthcare visits.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the application aligns with the government’s vision of building a digitally connected healthcare ecosystem under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. The initiative aims to empower citizens with greater control over their health data while improving accessibility, interoperability and efficiency within the healthcare system.
India’s digital health ecosystem has witnessed rapid expansion in recent years. Official data indicate that over 80 crore ABHA IDs have been created nationwide, while more than 100 crore digital health records have been linked through the ABDM platform. The integration of Aarogya Setu 2.0 with these services is expected to further accelerate the adoption of digital healthcare services across the country.
The upgraded platform also supports digital registration at healthcare facilities through QR code enabled “Scan & Share” functionality, helping reduce waiting times and streamline patient registration processes. Healthcare experts believe such digital tools can significantly improve patient experience while enhancing operational efficiency in hospitals and clinics.
The launch of Aarogya Setu 2.0 reflects the government’s continued emphasis on leveraging digital technologies to strengthen healthcare delivery, improve access to medical services and promote patient-centric care. Experts note that personal health record systems can facilitate better clinical decision making, improve care coordination and support preventive healthcare initiatives.
As India advances its digital health transformation agenda, Aarogya Setu 2.0 is expected to play a key role in creating an integrated, accessible and technology enabled healthcare ecosystem that empowers citizens and strengthens healthcare delivery across the country.
