The National Health Authority (NHA), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, will host the grand finale and showcase of the AB PM-JAY Auto-Adjudication Hackathon 2026 on May 8 9 at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, in collaboration with the IndiaAI Mission and IISc. The event aims to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence in healthcare claims processing and strengthen transparency, efficiency, and fraud detection in India’s largest health assurance scheme.

The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) currently processes nearly 40,000 claims daily across more than 1,900 treatment packages, making it one of the world’s largest publicly funded health insurance systems operating at scale. The hackathon marks a key milestone in advancing auto adjudication capabilities, enabling faster, rule based and AI assisted claims settlement.

The two day event will bring together AI researchers, health-tech innovators, policy experts, and data scientists to showcase solutions for automated claims verification, fraud detection, and real time decision making systems. A dedicated session will focus on AI driven fraud detection mechanisms, addressing critical challenges related to transparency, accountability, and data privacy in large scale health insurance systems.

According to the National Health Authority, the initiative aligns with its broader vision of building a fully digital, paperless, and data driven healthcare claims ecosystem under AB PM-JAY, which has already significantly improved portability, efficiency, and beneficiary access to cashless treatment across India.

Expert panels at the event will deliberate on scaling AI solutions across states and integrating advanced analytics into existing health infrastructure to reduce processing time, minimize errors, and enhance service delivery outcomes.
