Telangana has reaffirmed its ambition to emerge as a global hub for life sciences, biotechnology and pharmaceutical innovation, with IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu outlining the state’s long term vision while inaugurating India’s first integrated oncology manufacturing facility developed by Ciro Pharma.

Established with an investment of ₹800 crore, the facility is located at Biotech Park Phase-III in Karakapatla, Markook Mandal, Siddipet district. The integrated manufacturing unit is expected to strengthen India’s capabilities in oncology drug production while supporting both domestic demand and international exports.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Minister said Telangana is focused on building a globally competitive life sciences ecosystem by promoting research, innovation, advanced manufacturing and strategic industry partnerships. He noted that the state has created a business friendly environment that continues to attract investments across pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices and healthcare innovation.

Telangana has established itself as one of India’s leading life sciences destinations, with Hyderabad’s Genome Valley housing more than 200 life sciences companies, research institutions and biotechnology organizations. The state also contributes significantly to India’s pharmaceutical industry and is estimated to account for nearly one-third of global vaccine production, making it a critical hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing and exports.

The newly inaugurated oncology manufacturing facility is expected to boost domestic production of cancer medicines, strengthen supply chain resilience and support India’s growing demand for advanced oncology therapies. The investment is also expected to generate employment opportunities while enhancing Telangana’s position in high  value pharmaceutical manufacturing.

The project aligns with the state’s broader Life Sciences Policy 2023–2028, which aims to attract large scale investments, promote research led innovation and position Telangana among the world’s leading life sciences destinations. Healthcare experts believe continued investments in biotechnology, oncology manufacturing and pharmaceutical innovation will strengthen India’s global competitiveness and improve access to advanced therapies.

The inauguration of the ₹800 crore facility marks another milestone in Telangana’s expanding life sciences ecosystem and reinforces the state’s commitment to becoming a global centre for pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology research and healthcare innovation.
