In a significant boost to the state’s healthcare workforce, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath distributed appointment letters to 1,228 newly recruited nursing officers at a formal ceremony held in Lucknow.

Notably, nearly 90% of the newly appointed nursing officers are women, highlighting a strong representation of women in frontline healthcare roles and reinforcing their critical contribution to the healthcare delivery system in Uttar Pradesh.

The recruitment drive is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and address workforce gaps, particularly across government hospitals and primary healthcare centres. The addition of trained nursing professionals is expected to significantly enhance patient care quality, clinical efficiency, and service delivery.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the indispensable role of nurses in the healthcare ecosystem, describing them as the backbone of patient care, especially in emergency services, maternal and child healthcare, and disease management.

The newly inducted nursing officers will be deployed across various healthcare facilities in the state, contributing to key public health programmes and supporting the increasing demand for medical services.

Officials noted that strengthening human resources is essential to complement investments in healthcare infrastructure, medical equipment, and service expansion, ensuring improved accessibility and efficiency in public health systems.

Healthcare experts have welcomed the move, stating that increasing the nursing workforce particularly with strong female participationcan significantly improve patient outcomes, enhance care delivery, and support long term health system resilience.
