In today’s highly modern world, diabetes is not just limited to people with the age of 40’s but it is also affecting the younger generation. Diabetes in young people is increasing faster than in people who are over 40 due to the adoption of a contemporary lifestyle where stress and anxiety are prevalent. According to Statista data, India has the second-largest number of diabetics worldwide. Over 74 million Indians were diagnosed with diabetes in 2021, and this number is expected to rise to over 124 million by 2045. However, there are numerous conventional medicines available to balance this, Ayurveda emerges as a holistic solution for managing diabetes through herbal remedies and balanced dietary practices.

Karela
Karela, also known as bitter melon or bitter gourd, is well-known for its ability to help people with high blood sugar levels. Karela is high in essential nutrients and bioactive chemicals, which contain three important components i.e., polypeptide-p, charantin, and vicine that contribute to its glucose-lowering properties. Incorporating Karela into the diet can be a beneficial addition for individuals looking to manage diabetes naturally and it can be consumed raw, cooked, or in supplement form.

Jamun Beej
Jamboline, a major component present in jamun seeds, is thought to prevent starch conversion into sugar, in order to manage blood glucose levels. This can be especially beneficial for people who have diabetes or are at risk of developing it. Jamun seeds are also high in antioxidants and other nutrients, making them a nutritious addition to anyone’s diet.

Basant Kusumakar Ras

Vasant Kusumakar Rasa is a well-known Ayurvedic composition that has been used for centuries to treat diabetes and boost general health. This unique formulation contains gold, making it a powerful remedy not only for lowering high blood sugar levels but also for reducing weakness and addressing nutritional shortages in the body. This is not just for managing diabetes but also for making you stronger and keeping your body nourished with all the essential required nutrients.

In addition to herbal medicines, Dietary practices, and lifestyle modifications plays an essential role in managing diabetes:

  • A healthy, well-balanced diet plays a crucial role in effectively managing this condition. By incorporating nutrient-rich foods and controlling the consumption amount can help individuals regulate blood sugar levels and promote overall well-being.
  • Emphasizing whole grains, lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables while limiting processed foods and sugars can help stabilize glucose levels.
  • Additionally, monitoring carbohydrate intake and scheduling meals appropriately throughout the day can help reduce blood sugar variations.
  • Engage in 30 minutes of daily moderate activity which includes activities like walking, yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises. These approaches not only enhance physical fitness but also help with stress management, which is essential for maintaining stable blood sugar levels and overall well-being in controlling diabetes.

Integrating these dietary practices alongside herbal remedies can contribute significantly to a holistic approach to diabetes management. According to data from WHO, Diabetes is responsible for 1.6 million deaths every year and will also be the seventh leading cause of death globally by 2030.
